Commentary of SCNS of Kyrgyz Republic
As previously reported, on 25th of September of this year, as a result of negotiations the parties agreed to withdraw and not to deploy any types of border protection units in the areas of border posts "Tamdyk" (KR) and "Bedak" (TR), posts "Bulak-Bashy" (KR) and "Keh" (TR), posts "Katta-Tuz" (KR) and "Karakchikum" (RT), the posts "Ak-Sai" in Chaykhana area (KR) and "Sharshara" in Khojai-Alo locality (RT). The buildings and facilities of the aforementioned units will be mothballed.
The SCNS of KR reports that this protocol is temporary until the delimitation and demarcation of the border between the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan is completed. At present, the protection of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border in these sections is carried out by mobile border guards of the parties, who will serve along the border, strictly along the routes specified and agreed upon by the parties.
According to the signed protocol, the parties also undertake to prevent the presence of the border population of the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan in these areas, which excludes the implementation of any economic and other activities until the completion of the legal registration of the border.
The SCNS calls on the public not to give in to unjustified, disproportionate sweeping criticism of the results of the negotiations of the parties, destructive calls and slogans interested in maintaining tensions on the border, which are enough in the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan, not to allow them to use against the interests of the state and its citizens.
The relevant work of the commission of the parties on the delimitation and demarcation of the border continues. In this connection, calls on the public and the population to show their civic position, not to be a tool of manipulation of destructive forces interested in escalating the situation, and to help the authorities of the country to find a mutually beneficial and peaceful solution of the disputed border issues as soon as possible.
