September 17

? 12:10 to 12:40 am

Major General U.Sharsheev, Director of the State Border Guard Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Colonel General R.Rahmonali, his Tajik counterpart,  met at Guliston-Road border control post.

As a result of the meeting, the following agreements were reached: 

- during the night until 9:00 am on 17 September 2022, the heads of regional departments of the border guard agencies should personally oversee preventing provocations and shootings on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Batken oblast; 

- In order to coordinate activities, a joint operational taskforce consisting of heads of territorial departments of the security services, border agencies and law enforcement bodies will continue its work at the Guliston- Road checkpoint.

Twenty-four Kyrgyz citizens have been killed by Tajikistan's shelling. According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Health, many bodies were received by healthcare organizations in Batken region.

The situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Batken oblast is described as tense.

During the ceasefire, citizens of Tajikistan started burning their own houses in the settlement of Bogdari.

The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as tense, however, with signs of stabilization. The night passed quietly, without incidents.

Having violated earlier agreements, the Tajik side fired mortars at the village of Pasky Aryk in the Batken region.

The number of injured Kyrgyz citizens as a result of armed clashes at the border has risen to 103.

The injuries are mostly shrapnel and gunshot wounds.

 Dostuk village of Batken district came under mortar fire from the Tajik side.

On September 17, 2022, border service units of the SCNS of the Kyrgyz Republic suppressed mortar fire by the Tajik side on Dostuk village.

The Tajik side shelled positions and units of the internal military forces of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Tort-Kocho area of Batken District.

The Tajik side began firing using mortars and artillery units at Kyrgyz border guard positions in the villages of Teshik-Tash, Karamyk and Karool-Dobo in the Chon-Alai district of the Osh region.

The total number of injured people admitted to health organizations reached 121 victims.

? As a result of negotiations, at 2.20pm, the Tajik side stopped firing mortars and artillery on the positions of Kyrgyz border guards in the villages of Teshik-Tash, Karamyk and Karool-Dobo in Chon-Alai district of Osh region.

Money in the amount of 3,598,430.23 KGS was received from citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as other volunteers.

The total number of victims admitted to health care organizations reached 122 victims, seven of whom were sent for outpatient treatment.

The situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Chon-Alai district of Osh province is again characterized as tense.

The shelling of Kyrgyz border guard positions in the area of Karamyk in Chon-Alai district of Osh province was stopped.

Another meeting of the heads of the border agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is scheduled to be held at the Guliston-Avtodorozhnyi checkpoint.

The total number of injured people admitted to health care organizations is 129, of whom 7 were sent for outpatient treatment. 

The number of dead is 24 people.

September 18, 2022.

? The night of September 17 to 18 was quiet, with no incidents.

? 08:30 am

The situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Chon-Alai district of Osh province and Batken province continues to be tense.

? 9.00 am

A total of 136,770 citizens were evacuated to the Batken region safe area.

A total of 5,301 residents of the village of Jekendi in Chon-Alai district of Osh province were evacuated.

At the moment, 177 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Batken region. In addition, 160 tons of humanitarian aid have been sent from Bishkek to Batken region in 8 large trucks.

No new arrivals to health care organizations, the total number of victims admitted to health care organizations is 129 victims, seven of whom were sent for outpatient treatment. 

? 10:00 am 

The bodies of 12 more victims were admitted to health care organizations in Batken. The total number of people killed as a result of the armed conflict in Batken region reached 36 people.

? 11:00 am 

136,770 citizens have been evacuated to a safe area in Batken region. 

A total of 5,301 citizens of Jekendi ayil aimak, Chon-Alai district of Osh region were evacuated to safe places, a total of 209 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to Batken region, 153 tons of which have been distributed.

Money in the amount of 17,426,626.22 KGS was received from the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as other volunteers.

About the evacuation of citizens and humanitarian aid

A total of 136,770 citizens were evacuated from Batken and Leilek districts, 47 temporary accommodation sites were deployed. From Chon-Alai district - 5,301 people have been evacuated.

Also, humanitarian aid continues to be collected from 163 locations throughout the republic and 209 tons were delivered to the Batken region, 153 tons have already been distributed to those in need.

"After the hostilities from the Tajik side, social facilities and border outposts were destroyed in the Batken region. A commission was established to assess the damage," said Chamashev Bakytbek, a representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
